Lowell Ponte blasts those who discriminate against success

Americans should take a stand against a form of discrimination that violates human rights and divides our society.

This discrimination is “richism,” hatred of the rich, an invidious kind of hatred and confiscatory taxation promoted by leftist politicians, ideologues, and demagogues.

Like racism, “richism” attacks people for something in their genetic blueprint, scientists are finding. We find racism unfair because it attacks people for traits caused by their DNA, such as skin color.

“Being rich and successful really is in your DNA,” the U.K. Daily Mail reported in July 2018 of new scientific research findings by Duke University School of Medicine in North Carolina. “Being dealt the right genes determines whether you [are] … upwardly socially mobile.”

This latest of several similar scientific findings has huge implications for our economy, society and politics. Decades ago in a Wall Street Journalopinion column, I argued that “hate crime” laws against racism, sexism and the like should be expanded to outlaw “class hatred,” especially hatred of the rich.

Business success, I argued, is probably at least partly genetic. “Have you noticed,” I wrote, “that wealth tends to run in families?” And to the extent that such success is driven by genes, it becomes just as wrong to discriminate against a person for being a successful entrepreneur as it is to discriminate against someone whose DNA created a particular skin color.

“American exceptionalism” and success may also have a genetic component, as Craig R. Smith and I argued in our book “The Inflation Deception.” Throughout history, only about two percent of people voluntarily have left the land where they were born to seek freedom and opportunity elsewhere. The majority of Americans, however, have ancestors in this exceptional two percent of humankind.

Americans, we wrote, in our genetic blueprint “carry traits of energy, enthusiasm and ambition that could help explain our nation’s enormous success at business, entrepreneurship and innovation.” In particular, according to UCLA Professor of Psychiatry Peter C. Whybrow, an exceptional proportion of Americans have what geneticists call D4-7 dopamine receptor alleles in our DNA.

How much influence can such genes have? According to research at Kings College London and Case Western Reserve University in the United States, 37 to 48 percent of the tendency to be an entrepreneur – a pioneer on the economic frontier – is genetic. “The tendency to identify new business opportunities,” reported Inc. Magazine of this research, “is in your genes.”

America’s gene-based entrepreneurial heritage is a major reason for our prosperity. So, too, was our Framers’ creation of a country where new ideas and enterprises had the soil of freedom and opportunity to take root.

The leftist progressive movement has always tried to destroy free enterprise in America. It has preached richism, hatred and envy of the successful. It has drained capital – profits – out of capitalism through confiscatory taxation, and used taxes on business to fatten government. It has crushed new ideas with politicized regulation on almost everything.

America has paid dearly for leftist greed – in lost jobs, innovation and shared prosperity. Government would rather rule dependents than independents. Some of the most successful Americans have renounced their citizenship, seeking freedom and opportunity elsewhere – because under leftists, we were becoming like the countries their ancestors fled.

The left has declared that everyone must be “equal” (except, of course, the ruling elite of leftists), hence the unequal “progressive” taxes on the rich. But scientific studies show that most people do not want conformist equality of income. We want fairness and a chance to rise. This is why most Americans have always rejected socialism.

We do not hate the rich. We want to become rich ourselves, not through government cronyism and privilege, but through our own achievements.

No wonder leftists hate American exceptionalism and want to carry out genocide against our entrepreneurial genes. They hate our freedom and independence.

This is why leftists teach richism, hatred of the enterprising, in government (socialist) schools. This is why they impose crushing taxes and regulations on aspiring businesspeople. Leftists hate the rich such as President Donald Trump, whose wealth makes them islands of independent thought – even if that wealth was made when Mr. Trump needed political favors and was a major Democratic Party contributor.

We should embrace our inner entrepreneur, the enterprise genes of our ancestors. We can declare our own independence by turning from debased paper government money to honest savings such as gold. We should call richism what it is – leftist racism against the human race.  # # # #
